“If we were meant to stay in one place, we would have roots instead of feet.”
― Rachel Wolchin
Thoughts about the Quote Of The Day
That quote feels like it was written for everyone who has ever looked at a map and thought, “Hmm, maybe just one more trip.” It is the perfect justification for wanderlust, itchy feet, and those moments when you accidentally spend three hours checking flights to places you did not even know existed yesterday.
Of course, roots have their advantages. Trees never miss a connection, never lose their luggage, and never have to explain to immigration why they are staying for 29 days instead of 30. But still, I think I prefer feet. Even if they get tired, sunburned, bitten by mosquitoes, or squeezed into cheap sandals bought in a hurry somewhere in Asia.
Feet take us places. They carry us into markets, temples, beaches, small alleys, strange bus stations, and sometimes directly into trouble. But they also bring us to the moments we remember forever.
And maybe that is the point. We are not made to stand still forever. We can have a home, of course. We can love a place deeply. But our feet remind us that the world is bigger than our daily routine, our desk, our sofa, and the same supermarket aisle we know far too well.
So yes, if we were meant to stay in one place, maybe we would have roots.
Luckily, we have feet.
And occasionally, very uncomfortable shoes.
