Quote of the Day: Inspiration for Travelers
“There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign.”
― Robert Louis Stevenson
Thoughts About the Quote
Robert Louis Stevenson basically says: the world is not strange — we are the ones arriving with our own habits, expectations, and confused faces at the airport.
Every place is normal to the people who live there. The food, the language, the traffic chaos, the customs — all perfectly ordinary to them. It is the traveller who feels “foreign,” because he has stepped out of his own little comfort bubble.
And that is the beauty of travel: it reminds us our way isn’t the only way. Sometimes we are the exotic creature — especially when we try to pronounce local words or order dinner with wild hand gestures.
